About Me
My name is Kristen Gaulter and I am very excited to be part of your child’s learning experience. I am a mom of three boys who spends LOTS of time at the ballpark watching them play baseball. In my spare time, I enjoy reading, watching baseball games, and pinning dinner ideas (that I may or may not ever cook). My favorite foods include pizza, spaghetti, and anything chocolate. I have a very hard time saying no to M & M’s!
Teaching was something I knew that I wanted to do since I was eight years old. Maybe it was my own elementary school teachers or maybe it was my love of learning. Either way, I knew that the classroom was where I was supposed to be. Upon graduating from the University of South Florida, I began my teaching career at Blackburn Elementary teaching 2nd grade. A year later, I moved to Virgil Mills Elementary where I taught 1st grade for ten years! During my time at Mills, I went back to school myself and earned a Masters Degree in Reading Education. I also worked to achieve National Board Certification in 2008. My home is now Harvey Elementary! At Harvey, I taught 2nd grade for two years. I am currently back teaching 1st grade!
My own personal philosophy of education is that every child learns in different ways, and it is the teacher’s job to find out how. In our classroom, your child will be immersed in hands-on learning activities as well as character development lessons that will help them grow as a person and learn responsibility. I’m looking forward to a great year!
